Hey guys I am looking at ordering a Tuned up Customs Rod.
I am having a hard time deciding on which colors to choose.
Looking for some pics of what combos you guys have done.
What reel is going on?
If you’re concerned about colors take into consideration the whole package.
Here are two of the ones I chose the colors on. The orange rod on the left is mine.
I have several with their standard blue and Yellow colors. I really like that color.
From experience, the metallic colors are way more intense than most people expect. I usually recommend them only for trim colors, unless you are really going for BOLD!
Also, a bit of contrast usually pops the best. Sometimes people get two colors from the same family and they are barley distinguishable on the rod.
Dan
I’ve got several of them and am waiting on 2 more.I like the metallic colors because they do stand out.I have 2 i think that are non-metallic and 4 that are metallic.
I have them in different colors and i can look in my rod box and know what i’m grabbing by color.
Pick your favorite colors and order away.I’m sure you will like them.
Can you guys post some pics? I would love to see some of the metalics
Monday I can grab the stick we have and post a picture of it so you can see all the colors after they’re finished.
The metallic colors are all pretty good. The non-metallic to me look different after they’re finished. But I will admit, any of the metallic ones online are pretty close to what you will see in person.
It’s amazing the color combo’s people pick from what I have seen at the shop.
Metallic Silver and blaze orange is cool, I like metallic purple and neon green or yellow. That’s what I do on my rods.
My new one will be Gold metallic and a dark blue or dark purple metallic.
I will post pictures monday.
That would be great Chris. I have looked all over for pics of differnt colour combos but have not been very sucessfull. I wish TUCR’s had a gallery of high quality pics, it would make ordering custom much easier as I am in canada and am ordering blind as there are no suppliers near me. I am planning on the percison rod and paring it with a Pfluger supre xt, so trying to match the colours as close as I can but its hard from a crappy low quality picture of the wrap colours.
This was also the hardest part for me. It is very difficult to decide. I went to their shop and got some great ideas to some colors and was also introduced to some option that were not even released yet. The metallic colors look real nice for trim. Also I wouldn’t suggest going to crazy with the colors as I feel you might regret later and wish you went with a simpler option. Simplicity is key.

I’ll bring my S XT reel into the shop tonight and see what colors best match it for you. I got your messages on facebook also.
Picking colors and color combinations is one of the hardest things for me. So many different options. I have had customers ask for combos that I thought was going to be horrible. Then after I made their rod I like it so much I did the same combo on my own personal rod for myself. The good thing is the thread work won’t affect the performance of the rod. It only effects how you look at it. I try to make my rods look like art. Bold colors stand out better on rods that may not be in your hand all the time. Adding glow can also help you see the tip move at night.
Thorne Brothers had some good color combo pictures up on their web site.
this is the color to match that copper on the supreme xt
Sulky Holoshimmer Metallic – Light Copper

This is what we suggested last night if anyone was wondering.
The grey will darken up a little and be pretty close.
9710 copper
850 Storm Cloud
post up some pictures when finished – I am a bit partial to the holoshimmer vs normal metallic but would be interested to see the results

The gray is easy to match… just use one of the color’s you can find here
TUCR should have them all
I’m assuming Chris Stanton made this?

Doesn’t seem to work correctly on phones but works for everything else.
Easy pick for me Penn State colors so any customs I ever have made are blue and white with blue and white rod bands or blue and white tape with black reels
WE ARE!
Wow you guys, really? Hope you wear matching ice suits long as you’re at it
To me that looks like 9460 Deep Metallic Blue. It is hard to tell through a screen. Normally it is a big no-no to use metallic thread as the main thread for guides unless it is an over wrap. Metallic thread doesn’t have near the same strength as normal thread.
What color blue is that?
That is 9460 Deep Blue Main with 807 white trim.
Make sure the guys at TUCR help winterize that reel – unless you are always fishing in a toasty warm house. I have found that Pfluegers are really “stiff” in colder temperatures.
