Do you guys think the tip on the precision noodle and bullwhip become softer over time? I have a new bullwhip and just ordered a precision noodle, and I’m just wondering what you guys think. Doesn’t really matter to me, I’m must wondering what I can expect after a lot of use. Thanks.

I have been using my Bullwhip a lot this season and haven’t seen any change in the tip. It should retain all of it’s original action.

i try not to store my rod bent over. i have big fly guides so i let the jig fall a few guides and tighten it to the middle guide. i dont’ know if it makes a difference though.

Yea, I definitely do the same thing with storage. I have just heard of the rods having a break in period, not necessarily a bad thing.

I made some rods that are similar, noticed no change from 40s to -6F.And that’s in a 4 year span.

The biggest enemy with these rods would be excessive heat and improper storage.Best is to hang rods by the tip(without reel)in a cool place. They like to be stored straight.

I have built icerods even power noodle) for 14 years and have never had one lose action or nor have I had to hang to from a guide.

    Use the hook keeper !!

Do NOT store ANY rod with a loaded tip and with the money everyone spends on those ice rods you should have a NICE case to store them..

YES they all HATE heat..so be careful around heaters with icerods !!!

I have noodles that are 10 years old and they feel the same year after year.

Put them in a good case. Soft bags seem to be the death of these rods.

Do not store them pre-loaded either. They can take a set if the are stored like that. All glass rods will. Graphite rods will just take longer but the will still do that too. Even open water rods.

Heaters are a good way of ruining a rod quickly.

^^ Same goes for leaning summer rods in a corner slightly bent for a few seasons. Serve the curve…
