Ok first off I’m sure this topic has been beat like a dead horse but I’m gonna ask it anyway. So I got a 36 inch fusion for myself for xmas. I was at cabelas and seen they had a couple on the shelf and was playing around with the idea so I just went with it. It’s just a standard grip and now I’m wondering if i should’ve got the split grip mainly beacause i usually pistol grip my pole so I’m having some buyers remorse. My question is there that much more sensitivity? And is it that much more comfortable fishing with one? I mainly fish shallow water with a long line through pole rod 95% of the time. Got the fusion to fish a little bit bigger baits than my bullwhip for occassionally getting into some deeper water. I appreciate any input u guys might have.and how u like it.

If you still have the receipt you should be able to take it back and get what you want.

I have one split split grip in my tucr arsenal.I also like to use the pistol grip.I really have not noticed a big difference in sensitivity.I have 2 BW one is a split grip.I don’t notice a difference in how they feel.I have a fusion and so far no issues feeling the bite with the full handle.I actually prefer the standard handle.

I have 2 BW and 2 Fusions all with full cork handle. I fish both ways–pistol and standard. I prefer full handle but I have very large hands. Split grips just don’t feel right to me. My .02.

I don’t think it makes any difference in sensitivity. For me, it’s all about comfort. I generally prefer split for panfish and full for walleye. I wish my 32” split Fusion was a 36” full. Any interest in a trade? It’s like-new. Been used only a few times

I don’t do split grips on ice rods. Don’t see a benefit. Some open water rods yes.

There is virtually no difference in sensitivity or weight. When it comes to comfort, that is a personal preference. I have all split grips except for my dead stick because it sits in a rod holder and the straight grip comes out much easier. My main reason for the split grip…I like the way it looks. That’s about it.

Like others have said… if you have the ability then get what you want. I will say I do think the split grip fits me a little better for my preferred pistol grip and I do think they make the rod slightly more sensitive as you are in direct contact with the blank. Either will work awesome!
