Have been using Suffix braid w/ flouro leader and small VMC swivel on mine for a couple seasons w/ no complaints
Tried some of that “no stretch” mono, but took it off …it was a mess (but might have wound it on wrong)

My only “complaint” is that the reel is pretty bulky for the rod

I just run regular suffix ice magic with a swivel and a fluorocarbon leader. When I bought my first tucr I had braid on it and the first thing I noticed was the guides made a lot of noise. It could affect the way the line comes thought the guides. How are you holding the rod?

I have the same setup. I talked to John at TUCR, he recommends using mono, and not braid, because braid does freeze up fairly easy, and makes noise on the guides. I went with Suffix Ice Magic Orange 4lb. and then use a barrel swivel and connect a 4lb. fluorocarbon leader.

that seems like pretty light line for a walleye setup. unless you are using it for other species? interested in this thread too as I had this rod/reel combo on my Christmas list and I think Mrs. Crappie may have got the hint

I like to use it for perch and crappie. I met in the middle with 4lb. If I can land pike on my 2 lb line, there is no reason you can’t land a walleye on 4lb. test line. I think a lot of people use to heavy of line IMO.

Fair enough. I guess I haven’t experimented with lighter line for walleye/pike. I typically use 8lb and sometimes 6lb. Maybe ill give the lighter approach a try
