    Hello,
I’m thinking about getting a Tucr Commander but I can’t decided on my rod length. Also will they all have the same rod tip feel? Thanks!

I’ve used Commanders from 32″-38″ and the tip feel doesn’t change. The length of the blank is adjusted on the butt end. As far as picking the right length is concerned it really comes down to personal preference. One basic guideline to consider is where you spend most of your fishing time – inside or outside the shack. If you fish in a shack most of the time a 32-34 might make more sense, particularly if you fish in a smaller house. Consider a longer 36-38 if you spend most of your time hole hopping.

Alright thanks James, I think I’ve made my mind.

I have an 32″ split grip and 38″ with 8″ handle. The tip is the same.

The 38″ with the long handle is basically a 36″ with 2 additional inches on the handle. I’m finding that I really like this setup, and I’m using it as my primary walleye rod both inside and outside of the shack.

With the reel mounted towards the tip section of the handle, I can grip the butt end of the handle just behind the reel with an overhand grip while standing and get full use of the length of the rod. While sitting in my shack or kneeling on the ice, I can still pencil-grip the rod comfortably and it’s essentially no different than a 36″.

The long-handled 38″ is more versatile than I expected. I would recommend that people at least consider it, if their shack will accommodate a 36″ rod.

Do you fish a rod that length in your hideout?
I’ve been using rods no shorter then 32 this year and I was thinking about going 36. I really like the feel of a longer rod.

Fits just fine as long as the flap for the front window is Velcro-ed up. Otherwise it hits the flap on occasion. When I got the Hideout it went from being a hole-hopper rod to my primary walleye rod for anything 1/8oz and up. I still use the 32″ Precision for 1/16 and 1/8 when the fish are skittish and I drop down to 4-6lb mono.

Thanks. I’m going to look in to a rod like that
