When are kids taught all these flag rules in school? Was there some type of civil class that I missed bc up until posts here year ago or so I had no clue there was rules to the flag.

I’m just curious. There’s a line between ignorance and uneducated and I try my best not to judge those who simply don’t know.

To the best of my knowledge it wasn’t taught although 50 years is a long time ago. grin

I had Grandparents and relatives who served so I’ve attended to many service funerals. It’s something you kinda of pick up on I guess as life goes on. So yes, it’s a good point about where do the younger people learn about this stuff. Of course I’ve never understood why they quit saying the pledge of allegiance in schools either. I would think at some point there would be a 5 or 10 minute discussion about flags.

When you scrape all the layers away it boils down to a lack of respect in the world today. Some don’t respect country, elders, teachers, each other, property, freedoms under the constitution. Why is that? I really dunno. Lack of parents who respected anything maybe?

Old or new, dumb. A desperate cry for attention and disrespectful of the flag they’re ripping to shreds.

Couldn’t agree more. Respect the flag and follow flag code if you’re going to fly one.

I hate it. One trip down the highway at regular speeds and that flag is shredded.

Hmmm trucks with flags ? Seems like they became popular with the last administration. Except a lot of them where not flying an American Flags.

Other than to elicite a reaction you are old enough to know better.

I would buy 2-3 flags every year at the Sportsman show in Mpls. I will admit I didn’t follow the “flag” rule. I didn’t lower it at night. I didn’t fly it 1/2 mast unless ordered by the President. It went up and proudly flew over my property in Princeton and also on the Trail. It got changed out when needed. The flag on the Trail received it’s proper handling as there are 2 Navy guys who handle it.

Gee I thought that’s what the thread was about to elicit a response . And sir that was my response , no need to tell me that I’m old enough to know better ! By the way being an old Navy guy myself I think I’m qualified to know a thing or two about the US Flag . Back in my day flag etiquette was taught in grade school.

Maybe a little off topic but take a listen to “Ragged Old Flag” by Johnny Cash. Makes one think about what that flag stands for and why it is still flying.

As a person who comes from a family with a history of serving, my Dad was in WWII in the Navy, one of my brothers is Marine who served in Vietnam and I am Marine but served during peacetime. Like others have said I don’t really care if someone chooses to fly a flag on their truck boat etc. as long as it is done properly and not all tattered.

Two of my neighbors, a Navy vet and Air Force vet and I fly flags in our yards. We all have them lighted with solar lights so they can be displayed 24/7/365.

For dirty water. You are one of those guys who just needs a old school ass whooping. Just so you can call for help. And I hope no one shows. I’m in north branch, come by if you live near. Let’s have a beer and talk.

Haha. Get over yourself and your righteous mindset man. I know real good cops when I see em, and they don’t need a stupid blue lives slogan or a thin blue line sticker to feel validated. All that crap is 100x more about the person displaying the flag/sign/shirt/tattoo/etc feeling the need to prove their allegiance or make a political statement. It’s a joke.

What kind of solar lights? Was looking for some a few weeks back for my flag but couldn’t find any that would last all night in the winter.

Nothing political here. I could care less about the blue line flag. But I also don’t trash talk them like you do every time it’s brought up. I don’t need to get over myself. I am who I am, and I was raised on respect and confidence. I run my life that way every day of the week.

My Blue Line decal is to show my support for the police and those who keep order. Doesn’t matter to me if people like it or not.

    I agree.

But to the die hard flag people, isn’t the blue line flag a direct violation of the flag code?

One could argue the Blue line flag is not an actual American flag that would need to adhere to flag code. But instead greyed out digital representation of the American flag and not an official version.

The flag code mentions alterations to a official flag. For example , making clothing etc. A banner with red and white stipes and stars is a variation of an American flag. But not a “altered flag”. I would have liked to see Police have a symbol including an official flag. But I would hesitate, discouraging any effort to support Police , Military etc. at this point. A solar light typically won’t illuminate a flag from sunset till sunrise in the winter. But it’s an affordable option to an electrician hard wiring a light and sensor. For someone that can’t do it themselves. I try to help educate and help people display the flag properly. But try not to discourage anyone trying their best to support our Country, Military, Police etc.

Well yeah, and one could argue that my turds are actually water-logged betty crocker brownies, but that’d just be like, a really dumb argument?

The blue lives matter flag is a monkeybuttization of the US flag, plain and simple. The fact that black lives matter will get you people riled up but a clear rip-off of the US flag doesn’t, just shows how “patriotic” you really are.

What if Black Lives Matter put out stickers that were just a black and white US flag? How would you guys react to that? Would you ‘argue that it’s not an actual American flag?’

Kneel for the national anthem: ‘SUCH DISRESPECT TO THIS BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY AND
    FLAG AND MILITARY’.

Rip off the US flag to ‘support’ police officers who have murdered black people: “OnE cOuLd ArGuE tHe BlUe LiNe FlAg iS nOt An AcTuAl AmErIcAn FlAg…”

Pretty easy to connect the dots over here, are you even trying to hide it anymore? coffee

I already said it, I won’t hide a thing. I have nothing to hide. Don’t disrespect the flag or our military and there is never a problem.
Disrespect the people who serve your country, and the reason you can do what you do freely.. then it’s a issue. It should be like that for everyone. Nothing to do with blue lives, black lives, white lives. It’s about standing as a nation for your home land

Just wondering, what is that? Its obviously a variation of the flag with what appears to be added colors. I’ve never seen one like that before.

Why does it more times than not seem to be the raised truck/big tires/loud exhaust guy that is rocking the flags?

Because they are single, don’t have a house payment, have cash to pour into a truck. We were all young at one time. I see nothing wrong with it. If they can pay any tickets they get I’m good with it. Have patience, they will grow out of it.

Living by my “watch my own bobbber” lifestyle I don’t see this as a personal safety issue so why care?

    Couple flag issues I have?

1 – public burning. Would prefer seeing the flag haters burn.
2 – intentional upside down display. Your 1 way ticket out of here is awaiting you.

So does that mean all the people running around nowadays with the stupid BLM or rainbow flags are not real good people or they are just looking to get validated.
