Truck washing in winter

I know we all wash our trucks in the winter…but every time I do, my tailgate freezes up. Most of time is the tonneau cover but sometimes it’s the latch. Any pointers out there to prevent either from freezing the tailgate from opening? The hair dryer method gets old and embarrassing…

Fluid film sprayed on the latches and in the locks works for me.

I just carry an extra towel and super dry where the tailgate and cover match up. Don’t have any issues with the latch but you can squirt a little wd 40 in them.

WD40 on the latches and moving parts.

Spray silicone on the rubber seals.

Doing that once a month or so works for me.

This is me too. Wipe down the inside of the doors and the tail gate so there’s no more moisture that can freeze.

I have always used a towel for doors. Ice is hard on seals and handles, especially when a kid is trying to enter the vehicle!
