Truck Topper Rear Glass

Long story short I shattered the rear hinged glass on my topper last night. I need to verify if insurance covers it yet. It is an ARE topper so I am going to get a quote from the Toppers & More in South St. Paul. My question is if anyone knows if you can get just the glass replaced from a normal glass repair shop or do I need to get a full new framed glass part from ARE? Assuming someone else had been in the same boat…

I would assume you need the entire frame/glass assembly. I bent the crap out of the frame when I broke mine. (Backed into garage with window open doah ) Don’t see an easy way to insert new glass into the frame. Toppers and More ordered the part. Install time was less than an hour. Cost was less than my $500 deductible if I recall correctly. My topper was also an ARE. Good luck.

Yup your gonna need the whole thing. I did the same thing as JJ did when I moved from our old house to our new one. Went from 8′ high garage doors to 7′ doors….. only took about a month to not think and back in with the window up and smash doah

Kind of what I figured thanks for the info. Will find out if it is covered under glass coverage on my insurance and hopefully there will be no deductible. Think I see a trend here, my glass was taken out by the top of my garage door as well… on of those oh crap moments redface

I never had it happen but my dad did, he just bought a piece of plexi and cut to shape. Slapped in some brackets and silicone and it worked for him. Not the most appealing to look at but it worked. He did check for a new piece and had to go through the topper company if he wanted it new.

When you call for a quote, they will ask for the serial number on the ARE topper. Bar coded sticker on the inside of the topper. Or stop in and they will scan it.

Broke a window in my RV Camper last year. Quotes to replace were crazy high – $800 + Went with the plywood cut out! Not tossing that kind of cash at 20+ year old camper.

My Son decided a rock would be fun to throw through mine and the rock won. I have an ARE and it ran right at $800 for just the glass. 3 glass shops and 3 body shops wouldn’t touch it, had to go to the ARE dealer to get it.

Just wanted to follow up on this in case anyone else has it happen to them. Looks like the topper glass is covered under my full glass zero deductible coverage from insurance, so I will be getting a new rear hinged window assembly. My insurance is Acuity. Cost for the part from Toppers and More is right around $500 and labor for instillation is $100.

You got off easy. My topper is there now. Minor accident is going to cost $2200 to repair. My insurance may kick in $1k. If they dont I wont go with full repair.
