Truck topper a/c

    Hello all,

I’m curious if anyone has ever tried to use a marine a/c or marine refrigerator unit in their truck topper as an a/c. They work nearly the same as an a/c unit. And they are significantly smaller than the rv roof mounted ones.

I should note I was looking at the Technautics CoolBlue Marine Refrigeration unit, which is air cooled (and extremely expensive). But the unit is rated for 4000 btu’s using the largest cooling plate in a 7ft³ enclosure with r30 insulation.

Doing some internet browsing, I found a website that says a room that is around 100ft³ (bigger than the enclose of my bed) needs around 850 btu’s. I believe I could insulate the bed of my truck to appx r25 at best.

All of this is at around the same cost as some of the more power dragging roof mounted a/c’s out there. And yet I haven’t been able to find any type of information of someone even attempting this.

If anyone has any information, or references about this I would sincerely appreciate it. Also if anyone has a cool blue refrigerator unit they don’t want. I would love to give this a try for a more manageable price.

    Thanks in advance,
    Buster
