So, my spare tire got stolen from my truck. 2010 F150 20” rims
Been to u pull r parts, online.
    Any suggestions about finding one?
    Uncharted territory for me.
Also, is there a way to lock these somehow?

There was 5 different options in 20 inch wheels that year from what I am seeing did the spare wheel match the others or was it steel? If you want post a pic or pm me a pic and I can help you track one down.

Typically the spare is not the same as the ones on the vehicle. They are almost always steel and may not even be the same size.

I wouldnt worry about the look of the spare. I would get as cheap of a steel correct size as you can as mentioned above. Contact some junk yards?

If I had to guess about 3/4 of the trucks have a steel spare, the others have matching wheels. Yes you can do whatever you want now.

    Awesome!
    Thanks everyone.

I thought I needed to match the 20″ ones. Steel is not a concern nor are looks for me. Just need to have a spare.
So I found a 17″ on a “compatible” year. I could use that temporarily ( as my spare) ? Driving on 3 @ 20″ and one 17″ enough to get me someplace to get the flat fixed?

Don’t know how to attach pics to a PM but I would love some help John.
    Here’s what’s on there now.
I have no problem “raiding” a truck at u pull r parts or similar junkyard. Going back to Canada on September 10 and really need to have a spare. Just put new tires on the boat trailer and that’s when I realized it was gone while crawling around underneath the truck checking connections and what not.
Would love to find a way to lock this one down if possible. Maybe even a bike chain lock. Right out from under me in my driveway!!

If I was in your spot I would try to match the size of the tires on your vehicle. A smaller tire wouldnt really cause too much trouble for short distances otherwise they would never provide one. At least it isnt a donut like small cars. As far as locking it, not sure what would be the best solution for that, but I am sure a cable lock would work and just run it through the frame.

    Thanks guys.
Yeah, would rather have a tire the same size as you never how how long you’re gonna need to ride it. Would rather err on the side of having the ability to get back home on the spare ( 250-300 miles ) and not need to worry about it, especially pulling the boat.

So I found your wheel a matching 20 inch is used from $120-300 depending on condition. The truck may have come with an 18 inch spare steel wheel, I found those used from $55-80 all used ones are rusty as they live under the truck. The rim size does not factor when talking about have one different than the others as the rolling diameter of the tires themselves is almost identical between the two. Your 18 inch spare size would be 275/65R18. I can share more about where to get them if you pick a direction you want to go.

I’d be worried about a lock getting exposed to salt and other crap 24/7 actually being functional when you need it in however many years. Keep something that can cut the cable in the cab I guess.

Okay, so the SPARE Size on the Ford site I looked at said “TBD” and in another forum it listed 18″ as the size for a truck that came with 20″ rims.
I will check my door right now but would appreciate a direction 18″ spares if you can help John. Your comment “The rim size does not factor when talking about have one different than the others as the rolling diameter of the tires themselves is almost identical between the two. Your 18 inch spare size would be 275/65R18
Gives me comfort I could drive it home to the cities from Rainy Lake.

Thank you in advance if have have suggestions I could find this. Used is probably best as this is a “spare” after all and don’t really need to match the existing rims. Here I come Trudeau!!

    THANKS

AAA Auto Parts in Rosemount has the best price on the 18 inch spare wheel. Tire you can decide what you want to do there I would still recommend a new one as used rubber ages I would not trust to go that kind of distance on. I have to imagine that closer yards would have these spare rims but they did not come up on my search, maybe they just do not inventory them, so you could call around. If you like I can order one and have it delivered to my shop in Ham Lake however I need to make a couple bucks on it to justify ordering it.

John thanks. You’ve “taught” me what to look for.
On a related search the 2010 F150 is “generic” to 2009-2016.
THe Ones I found at AAA ( when I listed 2010 F150 ) were from 2019 so I suppose they must be compatible.
    Calling to find out now.
THe other problem is getting someplace to put a tire on once I purchase the used rim. Previous experience with a friend is that the won’t install if they did not sell the rim originally?!

We have a Chanhassen shop that will mount it if your having trouble finding a shop, not sure how close it is to you. They can also get you a tire if you like. Let me know and I can call that store manager and make sure it works out for you. You are also welcome to come up to me and I will take care of it. But I see your south metro and I am north.

And you are more than welcome. waytogo

I bought a set of rims for my 2018 that were off a 2007, same bolt pattern and offset. I paid $75 for 4 rims.

Thanks for the kind words. I have to give it to Sheldon though he has way more mechanical knowledge then I could ever hope to have.
