Wouldn’t surprise me on Little Rock, people are always pushing the envelope out there. Could it have been a side by side? With the current on that lake and people pushing the boundaries, it has to be one of the top lakes in the state for people falling through.
The thickest ice I’ve found is 6″, and it’s variable from place to place. Not even close to enough ice to safely hold even a small car, but it’s getting closer to being reasonable to snowmobiles and ATVs. Are you sure it wasn’t one of those?
It was pretty far away so I couldn’t tell exactly and it was dark but the lights seems farther apart like on a truck not atv or snowmobile but who knows maybe I will take the snowmobile out there this weekend and look for tracks. I wasn’t asking if I could drive out there I just thought it was pretty early but I know the lake dose freeze fast and is usually one of the first for vehicle traffic.
I was out there last Tuesday and there was a guy with an ATV on the ice. Was hoping he wouldn’t drive by me, but he didn’t fall through though.
I heard through the grape vine that someone tried driving across White Bear Lake last week and it didn’t turn out well, but have not seen it reported from any local news sources. Anyone else hear this?
Yep one car in White bear yesterday.Unreal someone thinks they could of doen this already.
I was out at little Rock today and there is truck tire marks in the snow… To soon I think.
Small lake in Brainerd area had 6-7″ with a truck and trailer parked on lake in front of access. Yikes.
My buddy saw a 3/4 ton out on 4″ by Delafield, with an ATV in the back. Not sure how the thing even made it out on the ice without breaking through next to shore.
I think some people honestly think that once a lake freezes over its free game to drive on.
I’ve seen this truck with a few locations listed now. There is a video of it on Instagram that says lake Simcoe which appears to be in Manitoba.

Same story every winter, yet it never fails to astound me how careless people are (careless was being nice, with Christmas and all)
5″ what the heck was he doing?! People are getting dumber and dumber every year. I’ve seen lots of full sized trucks on the ice up by Brainard and even West of St. Cloud, too early, don’t be that guy!
Mahtomedi beach. Still there. 5″ of ice.
Did this person get out okay? Damn that would be scary to go in like that, doors and windows blocks by ice.
I need 8″ for the side-by-side, 6″ for a quad or snowmobile, 3-4″ for foot traffic. You may catch more today, but I will live longer. I will say that Minnesota is very different from northern Ohio.
In my experience…From the people who don’t ice fish, the guy with his truck on 14″ of clear ice with no snow at all is called crazy but the guy with the truck on 8″ of ice with 6″ of snow isn’t called much at all. So many people who don’t fish (no one on here), think clear ice is dangerous and no one should be on it…but once the 2″ of ice gets 6″ of snow, GAME ON!
