    Lets hear your tales?????

Wisconsin has a statute that is used often on overbearing land owners.
We have a keep your feet law and all public bridges are accesses and anglers
can fish as long as they enter at public area and stay with wet feet.

It is Wisconsin State Statute 29.083(2)

Pikes Creek – Ordered by Sheriff to exit the water to receive my trespassing fine

Pikes Creek – Land owner called sheriff because I was trespassing

Sheboygan – Kohler security ordered me to leave the water (MANY TIMES)

Sheboygan – Sheriff called because I was in the water

Lake MI – Lake Park (JI Case Co.) Sheriff issued a trespassing ticket to me while I was standing in the water in my waders. Sheriff stood on a rock and took my info and wrote the fine.

All issued tickets were dismissed in court

Keep in mind that its different for trapping. Under the WI trapping laws, the land owner owns the land beneath the water and you can not anchor a trap on his land without permission

You are on a roll, nice job. I was once informed by a land owner that I was trespassing because my duck decoy weights were on his property because he owns the land under the water. When I told him he was wrong he stated. “yeah thats what the game warden told me also but he is wrong.” We agreed to disagree on that one.

    Randy,
I’m interested in fishing the sheboygan during the salmon run. Do you have any pearls of wisdom on where I can access the river that will put me on some nicer stretches? I haven’t dealt with the kohler security and don’t feel like paying for their membership.

We have a landowner in my neck of woods who is bad.

He made up a fake sign that looked like it was from WDNR

that said due to some migratory bird… fishing was not

allowed under his bridge. He calls the Sheriff’s

Department so often they call him “The Cry Wolf” guy.

Last May 4 anglers called the police on him. In a drunken

rage he sicked his dog on the 4 anglers “all were fishing”

from a public bridge. It bit three of the four. He then

drove over the bridge at a high rate of speed and swerved

at 4 anglers causing them to dive off the bridge to keep

    from being hit.

The land owner was charged and received about $2,000 dollars

in fines and the enhancer was added to his punishment.

If he has any contact with anglers and causes troubles again

his hunting and fishing privileged will be revoked for

FIVE years along with a hefty fine.

They always seem to build golf courses around the better runs…and kohler isn’t any different. We’ve used canoes and waded up there. I go up off of Hwy A, and I don’t remember the name of the side road we’ve taken for another access point. Up of the dam, there is a few public access points, but you need to be careful of that route. Satelite image shows a lot of the good runs

Many, many years ago, on the West Branch of the Pine west of Richland Center, my brother was escorted from the water by a landowner and his shotgun. That was enough to keep us off his property ever since!!!

if anyone ever pointed a gun at me over fishing….or anything else…..

I would make sure he was prosecuted to the full extent of

    the law.

At this point in my life, I probably would feel the same, back then it was just as easy to fish the two sections down stream as they were the better parts we had fished!!!
