What’s going on in Kenosha? Another shooting followed by riots, burning, and looting? Hopefully the National Guard can prevent half the city from getting destroyed this time around.

So the police were just supposed to let him get in his car and drive away?

X2. Or what if the guy was grabbing for a gun in his car? I don’t understand why people can’t just listen to police when they give you a simple order. If you give them respect maybe you will receive respect. whistling

I don’t quite understand how rioting, burning, looting, and destroying the city accomplishes anything.

This is a sad, sick and pathetic world nowadays when this rioting, looting and burning stuff down us allowed to happen when these morons don’t even think of taking into consideration why these law breakers gain the attention of law enforcement.

Until there is some real accountability and heavy penalties for roiters and law breakers nothing is going to change. Especially when you have a huge group of bleeding hearts that don’t think this is wrong

Isn’t the point of providing police officers tasers Is to restrain individuals without needing to shoot them over stupid crap?

Few things I have observed so far in local news:

1 premature reporting before all the facts are known

2 hours of speculation on national news before they know all the facts

3 one video of selective editing doesn’t show all the before, during, and after to know everything that contributes to this

4 Milwaukee, Racine, Kenosha has very repressed areas of different ethnic groups. Many big manufacturers have moved out over the years leaving the southeast wi as a service industry. Many low paying jobs. It’s sickening, but racism is still very high in these cities. That heightens any trigger point for people to act upon the extreme frustration they live. Doesn’t justify it, only explains part of it.

5 another issue I have with the media is the constant delivery very of how bad things are. The steady flow of “news” that is more depressing. If your depressed and everyone tells you there is no hope, you’ll never rise above your conditions. Same for all of us on a national level. We see how bad things are and everything is a constant division. The painting on the tv teaches us to take extreme views and don’t meet in the middle.

Well said as usual Randy. It is sad that this is how people are going to react to everytime something like this happens. Not saying it was justified but I would not want to be a cop in today’s world.

Why is waiting to form opinions based on facts and evidence (which haven’t come out yet) such a rare thing? This goes for both sides of the political spectrum and many events or situations.

If someone asks my opinion, I feel fine saying: “I’m not really sure how to feel about it. There’s a lot on both sides that I don’t know yet.”

Randy, you are spot on in my opinion. Your item 4 referring to the loss of blue collar jobs could be applied to every major city. I believe it’s the main reason the disparity in Minneapolis will never change until the leaders realize what they’ve done. Blue collar jobs, and especially manufacturing, have always been a crucial step in the ladder to success.

Randy while I agree with you on this instance, tasers probably should be been used, they are wildly ineffective in many instances. I believe I read they had already tried tasing him per a witness.

The big mystery is what this guy was going to do in that car. They had responded to a domestic incident so was this guy going to grab a weapon? Was he deranged and possibly trying to hurt his children in the car? We don’t know yet. He very well may have had no reason to be shot. But the fact that politicians, celebrities and whoever else don’t balls to wait a week or two to find the facts before throwing the cops under the bus, is sickening.

Specifically why I moved out of Racine in 1991 (Ratscene) As I called it back then. 60s, 70s… a guy that wanted to work could easily get very good jobs ( both union and non union) at Massey, Chrysler, Case, young, midline, twin disc….and if you could get in -Johnson Wax. Then one by one, gone or ran like crap. Employees went from valuable assets to crap commodities. Guys that lost their jobs at Chrysler took jobs at half the wage and less benefits. Add in race and other discrimination and things only got worse. I saw the writing on the wall and left the area. No way in hell was I going to be married and raise a family in that environment. Amazing how trapped people feel that I know that still live down there.

Some how, we need to crack the code on cost effective manufacturing in this country. Millions of jobs lost to foreign countries. But we can’t have minimum wage jobs. We need good jobs available to all with good benifits. Not a cure all, but a healthy start

Im just speculating the reason tazors where not used might be a combination of knowing the individual and the police working in or near some very hostile environments. Some of these areas are war zones. Its a shame they are that way but the police did not create this problem. They are stuck trying to deal with it and come home alive.

Guessing the cops where pretty confident that person was not going for a Starbucks gift card to give to the officers.

The big mystery is what this guy was going to do in that car.

And that spawns the speculation. Witness hearsay- he wasn’t involved with the women fighting and needed to leave. Was late for his kids birthday party.

Another hearsay witness said he looks led deranged and in a rage. Went to his car and would not respond to cops

Another hearsay witness was he told cops he had to check on his kids

What’s the truth???? We don’t know

A football tackle while he was coming across the front of the car would have done the trick, kinda hard to listen to police commands when your high as a kite. The fact he is still alive after getting 7 rounds pumped into him amazes me also.

Yet another instance where direct orders from police officers are disobeyed.

Since when did it become OK to ignore instruction from a police officer and have this entitled belief that everything will be OK???

Supposedly the cops told him to “drop the knife” more than once too. The video as of now does not show him holding a knife but I don’t think more than one of the cops would give that command if he was not actually holding one.

Both relevant. In the case of #5, consider too that twitter and facebook are instant so its not always the media that slants things. In our day and age the absolute worst thing to come along in this generation was the phone that did more than just call someone.

Honestly, the cops knew what the license plate number was and they could have dispatched a squad to be at that address when that vehicle came home. That would have been easy. Then too there could have been something with the guy we aren’t aware of. I still say that our laws are not color coded and the best way to avoid police coming directly to you is to not break them. A couple of chicks having a brawl, let’em go at it, then toss them in the clink. Shooting him in the back, un-armed though is about the same as the knee on the neck as far as much of the public is concerned. Hindsight is 20-20

Im so sick of this crap if the cop tells you to stop STOP. End of story. No news, no shooting, no riot. Don’t know what he did or didn’t do. Don’t care. Listen to the damn cops and see your kids tomorrow. If your dumb enough to commit a crime and get caught man up and take your damn punishment.

Jakob Blake had a 3 count arrest warrant out on him. He was trying to break up a fight between two women when the cops arrived. The cops then realized he had a arrest warrant out and tried to arrest him. He obviously was not about to be arrested. From first look at the video it looks like a bad shoot. The only thing we don’t know is if there was a gun he was reaching for. Either way the city will continue to burn.

Tasers are used when people are not complying, not when they have or are reaching for a weapon. Tasers don’t always incapacitate a purp.

Absolutely spot on. How about we (Right, Left, special interest groups, elected officials, political candidates) let all the facts come out before rushing to judgement one way or another? It would be a nice change of pace.

Hell, there were 2 cops, grab him throw him to the ground, cuff him. Hell no ,let him get to the car and pump 7 rounds in his back, people assume everyone is stable and sane. If not do they deserve that? My way of thinking that gun on the hip should be a last resort. MY 2 cents

In that case how do they know someone else would not jump in the fight? Frim the yelling and screaming in the video it did not seem real pro law enforcement.

Next why should the police be required to enter into a fight for their lives? Even 2 on 1 does not insure a good outcome for the officers. This kind of thinking would mean everyone of our officers would need to be the best fighters on the planet. And even with that they still better have luck on their sides.

I accept a dead criminal any day over a dead police officer.

I feel terrible that children were in the car. They will probably be scarred for life and grow up hating police as well.

Best part is his own family is calling for the stop of rioting.they just showed his wife? Pleading for “peaceful” protest, and to stop rioting and causing trouble. That says a lot imo.
