The marine service centers are buried so I’m going to try an install myself. I’d appreciate any ideas/advice/pictures on where to install the module that hooks up to the battery and how the lines r run into the yamaha kicker. Thanks.

I had a TM3 installed on my new 2200. Not a fan. Im having it taken off and the old style wired TM put on.
I troll alot. So its very important piece of equipment for me. Even if I didnt troll a ton, I dont think I could handle the TIMEOUT feature.

The unit will shut down to conserve battery on the remote leaving you dead in the water. Suddenly all your lines are dragging bottom (leadcore) and you loose your throttle.
Also there is no return feature. So once you have your speed figured out you will have to go start from scratch every 30-40 min. and set everything up again. There is also no consistency with the throttle level. If you are on level 20 and pushing you 2.0 mph. when the unit timeouts; you go back to level 20 and now you are 2.5 mph. SBC told me lots of complaints about the timing out.

Might be good unit if your trolling runs are very short and you like being frustrated. I’ve had the wired unit on my last 2 skeeters and absolutely loved it. Definitely going back.

Update on the self install. Keeping in mind I’m not all that handy,… this was a bit of a project. The instructions that were included had to be augmented by motor specific instructions on the internet. A supplied cable had a loop irritatingly too small to get around the throttle cam with the set screw in. I managed to jimmy the threads taking the screw off with limited space and spring pressure so off the the hardware store for a new 4 mm screw and tap to clean up the threads. Wires were too short for my installation. Running the wires under the live well and up thru the maze of hoses and wires was also no picnic. New ring ends and connectors needed. The company tech said that the remotes are hard on batteries,…a new set of two AAA every 3 days. Did I mention it was hot in my garage. I’d recommend having the dealer do it after my experience. Like most projects I could do another much quicker with less hassles.

Go snag the Energizer ultimate lithium AAAs… I went out with just the ones that came with it and were dead in 1 day and half.. been 3 weeks now on the ultimate lithium.. not that it matters much to me as I am going back to the older style. But good info for you moving forward with your remote.
