Trolling with spinners/paddletails

    Hey Guys,

Curious of anyone has ever tried trolling with spinners, but using a paddletail on the end of it instead of live bait?

Casting paddletails are a popular tactic early season in the shallower water. But, as we get into early summer, I’m curious if anyone has tried trolling a spinner/paddletail setup on the bottom?

    Thanks!

I’ve done it before when I’ve run out of crawlers…when the bite is good it works ok but I would still take a live crawler over artificial every time

Forget the spinner and troll the paddle tail.

1/2 ounce with a 4.5″ paddle tail in 25-30 feet have put fish on my boat.

Just trolling across the bottom? What speed?

Similar to that of spinners, 1-1.5 MPH

I’m fishing clear water so I’m within 2 feet of the bottom.Similar to spinners, drop the rod tip back to find bottom.

What if the water is only 3-4 ft clarity?

You’ll need to experiment some but the tail puts out a nice thump that the fish will find. Keep it within two feet and I think you’ll be fine.

Awesome, thanks for the insight! I may give this a try this evening.

Pretty similar to running Dubuque’s….we use paddle tails and ring worms off the back and it works great. You just move a bit slower with a Dubuque.
