Looking at buying some trolling rods. What does everyone like? Brand,length,etc.. Mainly using to pull crankbaits for walleyes with and without planer boards.

Fenwick eagle and okuma deadeye, all in telescopic. St Croix eyecon are very good, but a bit out of my price range at the time. Got the others for 49.00 each at the time.

I like the Okuma Deadeye’s as well. I can usually find them at the local FF for around $40 including tax.

If you are using mono for line, I think you might want a rod with a little more backbone as the line will take the shock of a fighting fish. No real need for hook setting power when trolling. However, if you are using any kind of superline with leadcore or similar non-mono/stretching line setup, perhaps a nice 7-8 footer with an even parabolic bend to it to absorb the fight.

Big fan of the properties of the rod and not so much brand loyal. I do use the Shimano Talora rods myself. But first I’d tackle the question to the line type you want to use.
