Trolling motor stabilizer problem solved

Didn’t want to move my trolling motor ram mount stabilizer(I would need to drill new holes in my fiberglass boat) so I came up with this.

Problem was the Terova mounting position was a little different than the Ulterra(the ram ball mount on the TM needed to be lower on the shaft). The clamp allows me to move the ball up the shaft and back down, so I don’t lose shaft length when deployed.

Now the big question is do they do anything? I’ve driven for so many years without the stabilizer and no ill effects.

    It stabilizes my mind. grin

I’ve seen a few boats that speared a big wave, causing their trolling motor to deploy and end up damaging the bowpoint of their boat. I don’t attach mine when running in calm conditions, but I clamp the stablizer on when it’s rough.

I also use mine when on the trailer to support the trolling motor under the cover. I don’t like the idea of my trolling motor shaft taking on a slight bend from the cover pushing it down.

I have the Ram Mount claw too, but your set-up is pretty slick. I might even like it better to be honest. It functions the same, but your’s is more quick release by the looks of it.

I did the RAM mount claw too. I went from a 60″ Terrova to a 72″ Ulterra. I didnt want to move my long RAM arm. With the claw it clamps on the shaft at the same 60″ location. Works just fine. No RAM ball clamped to the shaft.

Yes, do a search here for Ulterra problem.
