Hey guys I need a battery for a 12 volt Minnkota TM that is currently on my boat. I plan on upgrading my TM to a 24 volt terrova or ulterra in the soon future which means I will need two batteries when I do so. Which battery should I get for the 12 volt if I plan on using it with the 24 volt when I upgrade? The battery will probably get a months use before the upgrade. Thanks guys, all thoughts appreciated!

A 27 or 29 is what I would run. I have run interstate batteries for years and have been very happy with them.

Install a Trollbridge24 when you upgrade, it charges both batteries from your 12 volt alternator so you won’t need to upgrade the shore power charger. When not trolling, both batteries are in parallel to run 12 volt equipment.

I’d buy group 27-31 (Depending on what fits).
    Buy two of them NOW.
    I like interstate deep cycles.
I’ll be upgrading all mine to 31’s this year.

Run them in parallel for now and switch to series when you upgrade to 24V.
It’s important when hooking things up in series or parallel that your batteries are both same age/condition when you do this. That’s why i say buy two NOW.
