Hey Guys – taking my son out Friday to practice a bit of trolling on Pepin. Have been having fun buying gear and researching lead core, mono, and going to even try some snap weights. Any tips you might have are appreciated. Such as only use a certain type in certain depths? Using number 5 or 7? Thanks fellas!

A trolling tip: If you catch a fish of your desire (Walleye lets say) and it bites your rear treble hook. Change something slightly.
You might consider changing: Color, crankbait size or action, speed.

You want to get bit on the front treble hook. Only then, have you dialed something in that will repeat.

Fish on back hook…Make a change.
Fish on front hook…Change other rods to match.

If i was trolling pepin this weekend. I’d start with a #5 JSR Firetiger or Hottiger
I’d also run a #5 shad rap, same color schemes.
I’d probably start at 1.3mph upstream and speed up from there.

I second the jointed shad rap alot easier to read especially on lead. There havn’t been any reports but the can line or bay city flats should have fish.
