The guys on Walleye Central that have them rave about them. I personally have never ridden in a Triton. They are a good boat although I don’t like the lines (body style) but thats a personal choice.

If you like the boat & motor go for it! Enjoy. grin

I’ve heard good things haven’t personally been on one but they seem to be a solid boat with a good hull.

I have a 2015 186 with mercury 150 that I picked up last August. LOVE IT. If you’re in the metro I’d be willing to give you a ride sometime.

What dealer are you looking at?

weren’t aspects of the Triton 186 adapted by Ranger for their Reata line? maybe even used the hull design for the 1850/190? suggests good things if that’s true.

I do live in the metro area and would really appreciate that offer. I am not sure on the dealer yet Did you have good luck with your dealer?

I’ll PM you with my contact info and we can meet up for a ride. I fish the St. Croix a lot so that probably where I’d want to go. As far as a dealer, I would stay away from Frankie’s when it comes to Triton. If someone comes in looking for a triton, they just try to push them into a ranger. I bought from a newer dealer up in Richmond (south of St. Cloud) called In Tune Marine. They have been awesome, had by boat rigged within a week of placing my order. They were very easy to work with when deciding what options I wanted on the rig. They are a small outfit, but I love that because every time I call them with a question, they know who I am and my boat.

I also have a 2015 but I have the Allure model. Picked mine up in July of 2014 so I’ve had it 2 years now. No complaints about it and I fish Lake Winnebago and the Bay of Green Bay primarily so I’ve gotten to run it in all sorts of conditions.

Allure and Fishunter are the same hull, just different interior layout. And I would echo Mike’s comment, I’ve had it in some nasty winds and been quite comfortable.

A buddy has the Champion Fishhunter 186 which is the same boat, but before Triton bought out Champion. Its a good boat and handles big water really well. He has a 200 Yamaha on it. Its about 2MPH faster than my 185 Tournament Sport with a 150 Suzuki. Hardly worth all that extra cost and loss in gas mileage for a 200 if you ask me.
He wishes it had a larger fuel tank because when we do our annual Canada trip he has to bring 2 extra 5 gallon cans of gas because I think its only a 28 gallon tank. Mine is 41 and I don’t need to bring any extra gas with. We put on over 150 miles on this trip by boat. Its a 23 mile boat ride in to the island we camp on (each way) so fuel makes a big difference.
    Otherwise he loves the boat.

Thanks for comments and information. I am becoming more interested with time. I think it would be a slight upgrade from my 1969 lund with a 40hp etec. I really want something smoother and on a calm day run to Kewaunee, wi for some salmon action.
