However, we can’t cite “99 cent” gasoline when the entire economy shut down and the world demand crashed as a target or even a positive that took place during the previous administration. If you think gas selling for 99 cents is a good thing and a sign of a healthy booming economy, you wouldn’t pass middle school economics nor did you pay any attention to what investments, retirement accounts, etc. did as they tanked.

No you can not. But there is a ton of other things to figure in, and they are all real bad right now.
I can’t imagine e killing the oil line jobs and then asking them for help shortly later is any form of help. They just wants more charity for there pockets.

Gas prices are just one of a myriad of problems that are getting worse by the day. I dont see how any rational person can defend the current administration but then again I never understood how they got there to begin with.

DING DING DING – Things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

The consumer price index, which measures changes in how much Americans pay for certain goods and services, rose 0.4% in September, the Labor Department reported Wednesday, driven largely by increases in food, shelter and gasoline. Year-over-year, prices increased 5.4%, the largest jump since January 1991.

The people who voted this party into power would not change their mind about Biden or their party no matter what is happening, or does happen to this once great country.

My 401(k) was down about 6 figures at that point, that great place wasn’t so great. It’s almost like there are other factors than any one man at a given time….

You probably are the only person in the US that lost money in their 401k during the Trump years. How the hell did you do that? The only way that was possible is if you sold in March 2020 when the market was at it’s lowest, but then it recovered rather quickly and rather nicely after that.

    Was thinking the same.

I don’t believe gas prices are any where near a top concern for the left. They would like nothing more to get you into an electric car or on a bus/train. If gas prices were stable at .99 cents a gallon, they would slap a huge tax increase on gas.

Gas prices “stable at .99” is like saying “calmly scream”.

The basic demand of a finite resource will never allow economic stability at that price. However, the equilibrium price point for producers and consumers of crude oil cannot be ~$100 per barrel as it currently is. That will cripple a lot of things and add to inflation. We need to shift the supply and demand curves towards a modest equilibrium point through domestic oil and foreign negotiations.

I’d love to see long-term investment in energy independence simultaneously with advancements that make us more efficient. New energy sources are fine and research is great, but until it is economical things won’t be making any major changes for typical consumers. The market is still clearly telling us it’s more cost effective (even at the current high prices hurting all of us) to rely on oil than anything else that’s been developed. Might that change some day? Sure. Do we need oil to get us there and probably forever in some regard? Yes. Unfortunately this topic too is so polarized and politicized that we will race side to side talking about extremes going nowhere quickly…while the average American takes the hit.

I sympathize with the guys with big trucks and who work for themselves, but for the rest of us, most of us drive trucks getting so much better gas mileage than they used to. I have much more things with increasing costs to worry about than a few extra bucks in the gas tank.

For those blaming leadership for this, when have gas prices ever stayed constant for years on end?

I’m actually thinking of trying E-85.

Do not do it! It will be close to a wash because of poor fuel mileage and can cause problems with your fuel system.

I ran E85 a few times and one time my wife was driving my truck to the cities right after I filled it and it started missing so dang bad and the service engine light came on. Last time I used it. I have use E88 a lot and its like 30 cents per gallon less and runs like normal.

Remind me to not ever get investment advice from you. My 401k was up about 60% at the end of Trumps presidency from when he took office.

    Remember this on Election Day.

There is a lot more to remember than just gas. Remember that everything Brandon has done has been bad for this country. Worst president in history and we aren’t even a year in.

But hey at least he doesn’t have mean tweets while he is burning it down.

Jimmy Carter 2.0.Not fun days back then.Gas went to 1.38/gallon in 1980,and”supposed”to run out of oil by possibly 1990.Still waiting, but there are trillions of barrels waiting to be discovered.

I really don’t understand the environmentalists who are opposed to pipelines and nuclear energy. Pipelines are far more efficient and safe than rail or over the road shipping. And nuclear far superior to any other energy tech. Line 3 went right by our cabin and thru some buddies hunting land, and almost everyone local supported it. Jane Fonda flew in to protest, and the professional protestors walked to the capitol to protest as well, I saw them with a 90’s suburban and old chevy pickup as the follow/support vehicles idling down the road at about 3 mpg.

I guess for all the reactions to my post about losing money on my 401(k), I don’t think you really noticed the point I was trying to make. Like some of you said, my IRA recovered just fine as well. The point I was trying to make was when my balance fell off a cliff I didn’t say “oh wow thanks Trump” because I’m not dumb and I realize there were a ton of external factors in play, such as a global pandemic. There are a lot of variables to a lot of these topics, but most people seek confirmation bias instead of looking at the truths.

Like what? That added together with the huge jump in natural gas and propane they say is coming and the now 21 percent hike in electricity cost Excel gonna stick us with.

I think there is also a severe shortage of truck drivers to actually deliver the gasoline to the stations too.

Its been even longer since we’ve had a good old fashion slap on the back Biden party – Like never. Not likely to be one anytime soon either. At least not by anyone working hard for a living.

Can you explain why? I do not necessarily like Trump as a person, but I do believe he ran the country as a business, which is how it should be. You can’t deny that under his term that the economy was booming in pretty much all aspects. Just curious to hear your thoughts.

Crappie is a typical liberal that will dodge every bullet you have with common anti trump excuses.

I will ask again.. Crappie, why do you not answer these guys? For a guy not into politics you sure know a lot about Trump. One million things from what I gather. Why don’t you enlighten us about a Brandon policy that you do like and give us some feedback.

what difference does it make what my reasons are? Would anyone on here care or change their mind? This is Trump country here.

I hate Trump because hes a terrible example of a human being. hes a womanizer, he pays woman to be quiet after he sleeps with them, hes a liar, hes a cheater, hes a conman, hes a draft dodger, hes a cry baby when he doesnt get his way, hes a bully, hes a rich guy who has used his power to abuse people all his life. I hate the example he sets for both children and adults. I hate seeing grown men walking around with middle fingers on their shirts and signs saying Fu*k your feelings. Hes made being an a**hole acceptable and popular. He continues to actively inflame people in our government and country to separate rather than unify. Hell Majorie Taylor has a tweet right now asking if we should separate into different countries. A senator! I could go on and on about how despicable he is but ive said enough

I understand that before Trump came along a lot of you felt like people in Washington didnt listen to you and they didnt represent you. Im glad that someone came along and accommodated. Im just sorry it was someone like Trump – A vile scumbag who encourages the worst to come out in everyone. Ive heard a lot of people say that they dont pay attention to what kind of person the president is but they only care about their policies. And maybe thats a good approach to take but its not mine. My life hasnt changed all that much regardless of who has been in office. America has changed drastically in a cultural way since Trump came to power and the culture of Trumpism disgusts me
