Trim tabs on aluminum boat

Has anyone installed tabs on something like an Alumacraft or Lund before? I’ve got a Alumacraft Trophy and in certain cases I find the boat lists one way or another trying to go across the lake when wind/waves aren’t in our favor. Kind of makes for a wet ride at times. Looking for any insight. TIA

Yep, I just installed a set of Lenco limited space 4″x12″ tabs on a Competitor 205 Sport. It’s pretty impressive how much independent lift they can provide when you want them to. They are nice to have when you feel the need to adjust something. Otherwise in the up position you wouldn’t know that they are there.

Do you happen to have any pictures of your setup? Appreciate the feedback!

I’ve been curious about this too as I can never seem to get my bow down enough in rough water. Now that I added a kicker, I am assuming it will be worse. I’m in a 185 wheel boat

    Pictures-
I made an offset ladder bracket so I would have enough clearance for the hydralic cylinder otherwise everything fit fine.

Thanks! Did you buy from Lacanne’s by chance? That spray guard over the transducer looks familiar…

I looked at doing this when I had a trophy 205. It voids any hull warranty…

Did you install them yourself @snowtower ? If so was it complicated?

It depends on your dealer. Some say its not an issue and they will install them for you. Some say they won’t install them. I read the warranty docs alongside the dealer and we both thought it didn’t flag it as a no no.
Either way hull warranty or not Im not concerned about them myself. I was plenty confident doing it myself and it went well.

I wouldn’t be concerned about the dealer. It’s the manufacture that warranty’s the hull. Especially on a aluminum boat, that seems like a lot of stress on the transom.

That being said, I love the trim tabs on my new warrior. Would highly recommend

We just removed tabs from my brothers boat. Previous owner weight almost 400#. He couldn’t get clear reading on his electronics, due to turbulence. He is only about 185#, and we put trolling batteries in the bow. It planes great without them. His boat is not as wide as most. That may have added to the issue. Anyone else had this issue?

Jason did you make that offset bracket? If so, can I order one from you? Looks great.
