Got out a few days last week and spent some time on the canal. Did some trolling and casting and managed a few fish. The water sure has been rushing through the canal this year with the water out west, so I’m still trying to figure out how that really affects what the fish are doing. We managed about 50 crappies in the boat in a few days, including this nice 13 1/2 incher that dad got just dipping a jig.
Trolling was slow, but we did get 3 saugers one day, including another nice one from dad, this 20 incher. Almost a MA. Picture isn’t real good, the fish didn’t want to cooperate, but he was real chunky and healthy, more than the picture tells. As usual, all fish were released.
The great thing about this time of year is that when you cast for fish, you have the chance to catch about anything. We brought in LMB, gills, catfish, crappies, whites….it’s a real fun time to be out there.
