The 40 mph wind didn’t bother me today, so I hit a stretch of the canal today since I had the time to do so. My buddy Jeremy met me there, and the plan was to target crappies today for the 4hrs we had. Not much water going through the canal today, and it was all the way up to 72 degrees in some areas, and it appears most crappies have moved off their spawning areas, but most crappies we caught today were still really dark. We caught around 40+ crappies, probably a dozen gill hybrids, and I got a couple whites and 1 walleye (almost 16″). This crappie (released) is my best of the year thus far, right at 13″. We had a couple more at the 12-13″ mark and even more at 10-11″. Take a look at Jeremy’s fish…you can’t even see the tail of the jig. I took this pic just to show how aggressive they were at times today. We had our share of these little guys too.
Pretty good day all around. Sure beat mowing the yard. I’ll get to it….sometime.
