Well, this isn’t cool at all. Apparently, it’s in the works to shut off access to Phillips Canyon ( ), so after this year it’ll be an unfishable area. I’ve been starting to go there this year, and know some people who do WELL over there, and now it looks like it’ll come to an end.

CNPPID has apparently got enough complaints from local land owners about too much trespassing and stuff like that, so Central is going to shut it down. You know the type of people we can thank for this, I’m sure I don’t need to explain for some of you. This is bad news too, because now I fear they’ll infiltrate Gallagher’s and places like that. Stay tuned…..

That is too bad. Although, I have never really had any luck there, I am sure that I just don’t know how to fish it. Good that we can “thank” a certain group of people for all the rest of our access priveledges.

Hey man, up for some fishing Saturday? Going to be a little wet, but I can show you the finer points of fall walleye fishing. Or we can go and chase crappie!

Speaking of crappie, I have till the 11th of this month until the contest im in ends. There is a crappie category where no one has entered a fish. This is another easy $40 for me if i can just catch one crappie. I know one of you guys knows a spot where i could catch one easy. The catch is i have to work every day through the 11th. So i only have about an hour to an hour and a half to catch one, get a picture at sundys, then make it to work. I think ill wait till the 10th before i throw a picture up anyways, that way i dont give out what a crappie looks like to any of the guys im up against Any ideas? all i need is one crappie…

Glad to see you made it over, Hock! I think fishing out of a boat is the key at Phillips, but there are a couple areas where you can (could) catch a fish from shore.

    Trevor,
What hours of the day do you have available? Any afternoon hours? The reason I ask is because if I go, you can meet me (like if I went out Sat or something) and we could get em caught real quick for you. Let me know!

the jokers responsible for the closing started last spring, beer party,s on the ramp. they refused to let boats unload on the ramp, because of beer party. trash, and beer cans thrown around, gosper co depudy,s were called on many calls to the area. they had a free place to party with not having to use a park permit. wish they would have put up a sign, park permit required to use this area. might have been a start to stop the problem, al…

That’s too bad. Just like with the NGP forum… it only takes a few to ruin it for everyone else.

Welcome to IDA seth. You’ll love it here.

Yup, I was over there earlier this spring doing some fishing, and there were at least 50 people there, mostly between the ages of 16 and 24 I would guess. I could barely back the boat down the ramp, but I did notice that when they see a boat coming down the pipe at them, they DO get out of the way when they don’t have a choice!

Does NE have a TIP line (Turn In Poachers)

‘course, I ‘spose one shot from a .45 at a blackbird or something might have the same effect….

I have NO idea why I didn’t reply to this post earlier…I’m just a big slacker.

Plus, I haven’t really fished it much lately with other places offering better crappie hotspots. And the road to Phillips isn’t the best, even if there’s just a little moisture.

We don’t really have a ‘tip’ line that I know of, but we do have a poacher’s hotline sort of deal (operation game thief or something like that). I have it in my phone as ‘fish violations’. We could also call the sheriff’s office….but those are about our only options that I’m aware of. I sure hate to lose this place-you can really catch some good fish from this water.
