And Wakeboard boats are back in.
As the status symbol of choice.

Noticed a significant up-tick in wakeboard boats on the Whitefish Chain this weekend.

I personally liked the cigar boat trend best.

Should be about impossible to maneuver on crosslake, on a weekend, in anything less than a 20′ glass boat.

As much as I hate these gigantic boats, I am a little curious.
They cost more than my house. Must be something I’m missing.

I was skeptical buying a tritoon a few years back when the wife suggested it, but now definitely enjoy it. It rarely goes over 10mph and eats barge waves, wake surfing waves, and BK’s tuna waves without spilling cocktails.

People can keep their wake surfing boats though. There’s just no draw to them for me. You don’t need a designated boat to do it. The best wave I ever surfed 6-7 years ago was behind an old beat to hell Carver that a neighbor kept in the marina. The layers of slime and overloaded coolers made that thing push water like mad.

Spent Saturday night anchored in the bay at Prescott. All the tuna boats there reminded me of a mayfly hatch where the mayfly just emerged and was resting on the surface file to dry its wings. )

This last weekend was the first busy weekend on the river from what I’ve seen in the 2022 season. Mosquitoes (PWC) were all over. A good number of fishing boats out and lots and lots of tuna boats. With the speeds they were going, they weren’t concerned about fuel consumption.

Gas in Prescott (on the water) is worth mentioning. Two places were $6.08 and one was $5.25. When asked about difference in price, the dock hand said they filled their tanks in January.

I have to mention one angler that was out with his girl friend(?) in a flat bottom. He was trolling between my boat and the gas dock when I was angling in. I just wanted to inform him that we saw him and what our plans were. I guess I should of told him that I was going to wait until he trolled through to move in behind him and up to the dock. I just wanted to let him know what I was doing.

The next thing I knew he was not very nice and said “I have just enough right do be here as you do” along with other things his mother wouldn’t be proud of. He was in his 20’s and I’m sure his wife/gf, had a talk with him on the way home. They got off the water after our chat.

I know kayakers, don’t like bigger boats, fishermen don’t like tuna boats (or wake boats), tuna boats don’t like sailboats and tow boat don’t like all the above. It helps if all of us don’t assume the next person is just an asshole until they prove it.

Otherwise it was a bit windy but beautiful night/day on the water.

I’ve never even seen a tritoon in person. Tons of wake boats which suck donkey di**.

Until recently, I haven’t seen a ton of recreational boats out yet because the water only just hit 70 degrees. Not a whole lot of people interested in recreating when the water is still that cold.

I went fishing on Saturday morning. When I got there at 6am, I was the first person to the access. When I left at 9:30, the lot was full and there was a line of 3 boats waiting, all recreational watercraft.

From what I see parked at docks all over the state — both the wakeboard and the tritoons sit next to each other at most docks. Park at Gray’s Bay on a Saturday in Minnetonka and it’s all wakeboard boats. It really is crazy how popular they have become when you know the cost of them. There are no entry level boats in that category. I have to admit that I admire some of those. The color schemes make them like 1950 cars in a way.

Don’t think the people living in Gray’s Bay are to worried about 150k plus boat.

Kudos to wherever was selling non oxy gas from a fuel dock at $5.25 last weekend. That’s the one place I know of under $6. They could easily charge more, but to hold that price is quite the deed.

Well, you do need an inboard. Surfing several feet from the prop of an I/O or outboard would be a terrible decision.

Ol Miss Marina is at $5.80. It can be found under $6 on the water, but it’s getting harder! Sounds like the MissCrox Yacht Club is getting some grief from neighboring docks about it too.

Honestly, that isn’t too much over the non-marina price. I paid $5.59 for non-oxy this weekend. Of course, this was after I had driven past the station that had it for $5.39. I guess I supported the local guy vs. Kwik Trip. rotflol
