Spent Saturday night anchored in the bay at Prescott. All the tuna boats there reminded me of a mayfly hatch where the mayfly just emerged and was resting on the surface file to dry its wings.
This last weekend was the first busy weekend on the river from what I’ve seen in the 2022 season. Mosquitoes (PWC) were all over. A good number of fishing boats out and lots and lots of tuna boats. With the speeds they were going, they weren’t concerned about fuel consumption.
Gas in Prescott (on the water) is worth mentioning. Two places were $6.08 and one was $5.25. When asked about difference in price, the dock hand said they filled their tanks in January.
I have to mention one angler that was out with his girl friend(?) in a flat bottom. He was trolling between my boat and the gas dock when I was angling in. I just wanted to inform him that we saw him and what our plans were. I guess I should of told him that I was going to wait until he trolled through to move in behind him and up to the dock. I just wanted to let him know what I was doing.
The next thing I knew he was not very nice and said “I have just enough right do be here as you do” along with other things his mother wouldn’t be proud of. He was in his 20’s and I’m sure his wife/gf, had a talk with him on the way home. They got off the water after our chat.
I know kayakers, don’t like bigger boats, fishermen don’t like tuna boats (or wake boats), tuna boats don’t like sailboats and tow boat don’t like all the above. It helps if all of us don’t assume the next person is just an asshole until they prove it.
Otherwise it was a bit windy but beautiful night/day on the water.
