Question for you guys on your approach to hanging stands used for bow hunting.
When hunting in the woods are you facing the main trail or are you looking down the trail? If you’re looking down the trail are you looking in the direction you expect the deer to come from, what about morning vs. evening?
Also if you’re hunting the edge of a field are you looking into the field, down the edge or into the woods?
For me when I’m hunting in the woods I like to face slightly quartering the trail so I can see the entire trail but have most of it on my left hand side since I’m a righty. When I’m hunting a field edge I like to look down the edge facing the trail and have the field on my left hand side.
The reason I ask is I’ve seen where guys will but their stand on the backside of the tree so they can use it as cover from approaching deer, and I could see where this would be beneficial while hunting a field edge but wouldn’t work as good in the woods where you have a max visibility of 40 yards?
