Treestand adjustment?

I have a stand in a great spot but all the trees are crooked. I sat there tonight and I have to level it out some to be able to take advantage of some shooting lanes. I was thinking of loosening up the top strap sticking a 5/6″ piece of 2×4 behind the Y that touches the tree. Adding an additional ratchet strap for safety and be good to go. Any thoughts or better ideas? I have saw this one three times last week here from another stand.

It’s probably not recomended but I have used threaded rod and nuts/washers before to make ‘levelers’ that slide inside the tubing on the stand platform, then added a second strap as you stated. Same situation, great spot and the only tree that would work was just crooked enough that to hang the stand level one side of the platform base didn’t touch the tree by about 2″.
Another, safer option, if you have a climbing treestand, use it in place of a hang on. Have done that, had a spot i wanted a stand but could not get a hang on to seat right, so I hung my climber there instead, worked great, nearly infinately adjustable. Strapped the base in place and just raised/ lowered the top part to get in and out. The ease and speed of climbing sticks I normally use with a hang on and adjustability of the climber (without the hassle of climbing up/down with it)

    I wouldn’t trust a 2×4 with my life.

There are a few hang on stands that adjust for this. I believe Mud Buddy makes one. With that said, I have sat in some pretty shady stands and that would work.
