Hey folks. I have a trip planned in late march/early April of 2016 to fish out of Everts on P4. My question is for the Iowa guys that travel that way. I’m leaving from Clinton Iowa which is about 40 miles south of Dubuque. Just wondering if anyone is from this area. If so what roads do you take to get up there? I have a couple routes picked out but I’m not sure which would be the best. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Bill

The guys I’ve talked to mostly head to Waterloo, then to Rochester MN and on to Everts. If I recall, it’s a bit further but better roads.

Going to Dubuque and following the river up is a little faster, better scenery but the roads are as good.

This info is a couple years old BTW.

Yes, 30 over to CR then up to Waterloo @ Elk Run Heights. Elk run road to Dunkerton road over to 63 North on up to Rochester. Don’t be snoozing after Spring Valley or you might miss the turn North. Up to Rochester, 52 N to Zumbrota then 58 over to Red Wing. All good fairly straight roads that you can make good time on. Consistent 5hrs from Muscatine every time and its about an hour up to CR for us.

We did try going thru Prairie Du Chien then followed the river on up in the dark once. That took FOREVER….

Thanks. I really appreciate it. I wanthink to get there as quick as possible. I’m getting more and more excited as the trip date gets closer. May take the river route home though just to see some nice scenery.

I was working down in the quad cities two years ago and following the river down was faster then any other way we took.
