As i sit here in my garage listening to the rain pound off the roof, I thought I should start a post here iDO.

Ive got a coyote hanging in my garage, soaking wet, that needs to be skun out. Ive got the heater going and a blow dryer… there’s got to be a better way.

If some of the seasoned trappers wouldn’t mind chiming in on the way they handle animals, I’m all ears.

I just let it hang with a fan over night and skin it the next day. And after I skin coyotes I wash them in either laundry detergent or dish soap. Then let it hang over night again before you put it on the stretcher.

I go to Good Will or equal and buy towels specifically for trapping. Good heavy towels will absorb a lot of water out of the fur. Not to the piont of being dry, but they will dry much faster that shaking them out. Tough call sometimes with k9s to skin them wet or dry. They skin a lot easier when warm, so time is of the essence to me.
