After a week of catching only rats, we finally pinched a coon this morning. Big fella too.
The Men were pretty fired up. I confess that their dad was too. We usually aren’t dressed so nicely when we run the line…we checked traps right after church this morning.
We’ll pull the line on Weds. and start up again after deer season.

Did you scale that coon?
No – but it had to be pushing 30 pounds. I don’t think I’ve ever nabbed one bigger. He was very well-furred too.
What are coon prices forecasted to be this year?
I was on a trapping site and the forecast is that Russia, China and another country is going to be buying a whole mess of furs. The sites forecast for prices was also good and atleast the same price as last year. Randy Weiland said his average was 27$ I think last year and he heard of a 17$ rat. If Randy sees this maybe he will chime in.
