Do you need a repair or replacement? There are many places that will repair them but not too many will replace them as willingly.

I had my transom rebuilt this spring by a gentleman by Henning in Otter Tail County, his name escapes me right now. 20+ years at Lund, knows everything about boats, runs a small business in his home shop. Great first impression. Handshake and look a guy in the eye sort of feeling. Quoted me $2,500, shook his hand and away I went.

Picked up the boat, he did beautiful work, but lo and behold the final price was $3,000. No warning, took me by surprise.

Long story short, my fault for not getting a quote in writing. I can understand things come up in a project but I was disappointed and frustrated he didn’t let me know about the 20% increase in the bill.

I can track the name down if you need me to. I don’t want to disparage a person online because he did a very nice job, I’d just say learn from my mistake and make sure you’re clear about your transaction beforehand.
