Transferring waypoints from Global Map to HDS-T

I finally pulled the trigger on some new electronics but can’t seem to transfer my waypoints. I can save my waypoints to a blank SD, put the card in the HDS, browse to the file and click load. Units says it loading. But no waypoints tranfer. I would expect an error message if something wasn’t kosher… Do the HDS units take a new format? I was in the shed while trying to upload. I had no GPS signal. I wouldn’t expect the unit to need to be locked on to satellites.

I’ve tried some of my older backup files with the same results. I’m going to try a new SD card tonight. Any thoughts?

Well, I’ve made headway but hit another snag. I remembered the older units can’t take any more than a 1GB SD card. I found one and tried again. Now the HDS goes through all the steps but errors out saying “Too many icons 24253 (5000 max)”. Now I know I have a ton of waypoints and icons but I’m pretty sure it’s not 24k. File size is 25KB. Anyone run into this before??

Years ago when I switched to the HDS series I went threw my global map unit and made waypoints by icons I wanted then deleted all icons from unit. Then exported the waypoints. HDS units don’t have icons so everything is made into a waypoint. So sounds like you got 19500 or so too many!!

Now when fishing I make different symbols for icons(waypoints) from my actual waypoints so I can delete by symbol when I want to clear up some clutter.

You are exactly right skeeter20. I drop waypoints on each hump and bar and drop icons along the whole side of the bar. Guess the Global Map will be with me for a while yet.
