Transferring trails on Lowrance units

I have a Lowrance LCX-27 with several waypoints and trails on it. I saved them to a sd card and tried to install onto a HDS 7 gen. 1. The waypoints transferred fine. The trails will not upload. I get an error called parsing error, transfer failed. I called Lowrance 2 different times. First guy wasn’t much help and said I saved them to the sd card incorrectly. The file shows up as user.data and is version 3. 2nd guy seemed pretty knowledgeable but still was unsuccessful. I have my waypoints and 2 routes I never had before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you have to save the trails as a different version. I would try to load on version 2 or 1. Try to load from the lcx27 on a smaller SD card if possible. I know lowrance was goofy with the size of the SD cards, ideally a 1 or 2gb card, which are almost impossible to find locally.

When you go into your trails how many trails do you see on the LCX 27?

I did this before helping my friend load his waypoints and trails from an older LCX to an HDS Gen 2. Download GPS Babel https://www.gpsbabel.org/ and use the program to convert the data to the right format. Works great and I am pretty sure it’s self explanatory. It will convert from a .usr to the latest format extension needed. Also, Calvin is correct, you may need a smaller SD card, a 1 gig or smaller as Lowrance doesn’t like the newer cards. Was able to transfer all his Lac Seul trails onto the new unit.

I have about 15-20 trails total. Half are from the lake in Canada where I fish every year so it would be nice to keep them. At least the waypoints marking underwater rock piles transferred! I have a 2 GB sd card I got on Amazon. Just checked out that GPS babel program. Looks like that might do what I want. Will let you know. Thanks
