I am getting a terrible rooster tail from this transducer. It is mounted in the same location as my fixed transducer was (this is a break away). There is a rubber plug that came with the new transducer. The boat is in the water in Missouri and was wondering if anyone has installed this plug to stop the tail and how it is done, hopefully not having to trailer boat back out.

    Thanks.

It’s pretty hard to try and install the plug without removing the cross-secrew that holds the transducer to the bracket. In a pinch, I’ve reached underwater, wrapped the area with black electrical tape, and then put a wire-tie to hold it until I put the boat back on the trailer.

Thanks for the replies. Good to know about the tape.

Bump it up more. I just installed one next to my HDSI last week. Started with a 10′ rooster, moved it up, down to a 6′ rooster. Moved it up more yet and rooster gone.

I have both HDSI and XNT920 right next to each other, both working great on plane, and neither have a rooster tail, or any electrical tape or rubber stopper. Play around with it’s vertical location.
