Transducer failure?

On the lake today, the bow unit (106SV) was working well with the TM mounted GT54. When I decided to move to another spot, I disabled the sonar and made a short run. When I enabled the sonar, all I had was the left side of SI. The right side was there but very faint. I did the normal things to check it out. Turned off the unit and restarted. Turned off the unit and disconnected the transducer and repowered after hooking it back up. Reset defaults. Nothing helped. The bow unit displayed normally when the input was changed to dash unit (networked).

Then I realized that the right side was a mirror of the left, just much fainter. Everything the left was showing was also showing on the right side. I rechecked and changed all my SI settings but no help. Swapped head units with the dash mount 106SV and the bow unit worked fine on the dash but the dash unit had the same issue at the bow.

I can’t find any cuts or hard kinks in the cable. What else can cause this?

Sounds like you’ve narrowed it down to the transducer…on the bright side, there’s no shortage of brand new gt54 transducers for sale, cheap! You could pull it off the trolling motor just to make sure nothing with the way it’s mounted is causing an issue but my guess is that the ducer went bad.
