Bringing back a old post to show my pictures of what causes trailer light issues seeing some resent activity about driving and brake lights not working on a boat trailer. This a good time to get them fixed before putting them away for the winter, so next spring your good to go.

Can’t understand why those wires would cause trailer light issues. I’m sure they came like that from the factory.

Looks to me that the wires had a cold solder joint? When solder joints are not properly done the are worst the scotch locks. Most of the failure I see is when people try to solder a corroded wire, unless you clean it or start new you will never get it soldered correctly.

I cringe every time I see those quick pinch on splices used on trailer wiring.

Not waterproof, not vibration resistant, high resistance. If you have them, get rid of them.
