Trail Camera

That leads to another question though: how fast do the pictures get sent after they are taken? I’ve never had a cell one before. If someone could just turn it off and take it before pictures are sent that’s not very useful either.

    Edit to add:

Looking at Tactacam more the Defend and Reveal accounts are separate. The issue was if I need a higher plan for the entryway camera(s) then all cameras on account use the same plan and that would get expensive for ones in the woods that don’t take a ton of pictures. If they are separated though then I can just use Defend for security with whatever plan I need there and Reveal for the game cams with starter plans. That should work out fine for me.

Just open the flap and turn it on and off manually when you come there and leave

Yeah, I know I could do that. Wondering if I could mount one up high where it’s not easily accessible. DNR guy pulled my card and deleted himself once a few years ago. Missed the video though, was set to 3 pics + video, and another camera had his truck on road at same time. That whole situation made me doubt the “security” benefit of just putting one at ground level.

A security box solves all that. No one can open it unless the cut it open. But I can’t remember if my tactacams have a on off on the app.

Why would the dnr do that ? Seems real fishy.

I don’t know, I think trying to catch baiting probably but still don’t know why they deleted. It was at a spot where previous owners had a feeder. I have a video of a gloved hand opening it, missing pictures in the sequential numbered naming, and pictures of their truck on road around same time.

Anyways, I found this (attachments) for the Tactacam security camera and Defend app. This sounds perfect for what I want.

That’s pretty messed up if they opened a camera and deleted there pictures and or removed a SD card. I can’t imagine that’s legal.

I use spypoint. Solar chargers and 100 free pictures a month for $169 per camera.

I saw they have these for $129 right now fyi.

I’m going to try a couple of the Flex G-36 cams since they are $150 for two right now, I don’t think solar will work where I want them back in the woods. 100 pictures a month for free should be fine since the wolves ate all the deer jester

I have heard of people going around public land checking others cams. Deleting photos of bucks too. No clue how that would land legally.

If you don’t delete anything that just seems efficient jester

People leave cameras on public land?

I don’t hunt public, but that still seems like a bad idea knowing how so many people are in society.

A ton. I think 4 or 5 in one scouting hike is my current record. Not sure how they don’t all walk off, I put one on private land right next to public, in a very hard to get to spot and it was gone in a week shock coffee

I run all my cameras with security boxes and cable snakes. Sure if some one really wanted them they could cut bothe the cable then the pad lock off the box, but it’s never happened.

Somebody was definitely walking around my property which is what prompted my question today. I think they took a camera but I’m not 100% sure, maybe I forgot where I put it. I move them all the time and never waypoint them and haven’t lost one yet but it’s possible…

I’m getting two of these Tactacam Defend cameras for the entryway and will put them up high with climbing sticks. Should be safe enough I think.

Going to try some cheapo Spypoints for in the woods, maybe Tactacams later if they really suck. It’s certainly not often people trespass but if they do and one goes missing oh well.

I’ve never looked in to those defense cams before. They look like nice rigs. As for non cell cams, they all seem to do the trick. Cell cams suck to pay for when you run multiple.
