Towtector or rock guards in winter?

I am looking at Towtector for my summer camping trips pulling the fish house. I am curious to see how many people use them in the winter to keep salt spray down to a minimum. How is the clearance going onto and off the ice, I am worried I will rip it off or bent it. I hit lakes with good heaves at times. Just wondering I guess if I should use it at all in the winter here in MN. Thanks

Mine makes quite a bit of difference in terms of both summer and winter towing. While it won’t keep everything off, I’d rather keep most of it off than none at all. I’ve never had an issue with landings while pulling my wheelhouse.

I recently bought a wheelhouse and had a similar question for the forum just a couple weeks back. Here’s the thread with people’s opinions.

Awesome thanks for the info. I did a search and missed your theard, need to open eyes more haha. Thanks again.
I am most worried about entering and exiting the lake but sounds like all will be good just go slow and take it easy I guess.

My next question is what Towtector are people useing. Tier 2 of 3? Aluminum or powered coated? Can you get by with a tier 2 or is the tier 3 that much better?
    Thanks again for you advice.

I have the aluminum model now with the double brush. Definitely get the double brush. The steel model rusted pretty bad after 2 winters and only about 8 trips north. It knocks down a ton of debris. Not all but alot.

I purchased a towtector to protect my new Lund Tyee. Had to drive 8miles on a recently gravel overlaid asphalt highway. Speeds of 35-50 MPH. Towtect was “WORTHLESS”! Had over $8000 in damage on my new boat the first time I took it out. Company rep walked me through the selection process and recommended the model for me to use. And then they tried to tell me I chose the wrong model. Don’t buy Towtector!
