I’m looking for a Bass tournament for my buddy and I to fish in. We’re looking to stay in the Minnesota area. I’m looking at clubs and whatever to get started. We’re looking to fish for cash, prizes and sponsorships. We would like to begin in the beginners stage and work our way up. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, any info that can help us out with tournament knowledge. Thanks.

A place to start, look at Fishers of Men,in mn you still have a circuit there .They are a good group to fish w also look at the tournement on frankie’s web site Mark Schutts, on here had a full throttle circuit over there, that we enjoyed fishn but last contact I had he didn’t have a bass side going,he runs the frankies stuff I believe. also there typically are opens to fish put on buy different orgaizations. I will 2nd the Fisher of Men West tourney’s – They are well run and have some great fishermen/Fisherwomen fishing them. They are rather inexpensive and a great way to get started into tournamant fishing

You could look at Denny’s Super 30 tournaments as well. Denny Nelson runs a state wide circuit and a couple on Minnetonka. Entry fees are not too bad and Denny runs a great tournament. There are some really good fisherman in his tournaments as well as some newer guys. It’s a good mixture and you will learn a lot. If you have any questions about other circuits or tournament fishing in general feel free to send me a message. Good luck.

I agree. Check out fishers of men. Reasonable entry fees. Good competition and it’s a team circuit. So you guys can fish together. Or American Bass Anglers has the American Fishing Tour. they have cheap entry fee and you can fish with others and learn more.

IceIce Aldrich or others for that matter- not sure if you found a circuit but want to make you aware of the Walser Bass Tour.

This is a new Twin Cities team circuit aimed at building on the camaraderie and learning experiences that BASS clubs enjoy while paying out 100% of the tournament fees.

This might be just the group for you to cut your teeth on and gain some valuable experience. Check out details on our website http://wbt.fiveand1.net/for information!

Our tourneys are at least half of what other tourneys cost at $35 per event with a smaller number of boats. This increases your chance more for that payout than the bigger circuits while still learning tournament strategies and starting off your career.

    2011 Schedule:
    6/5 – Coon Lake
    6/26 – Lake Minnetonka
    7/10 – Medicine Lake
    7/24 – Lake Waconia
    8/14 – Prior Lake
9/17 – 9/18 TOC – Farm Island Lake (Aitkin County)
(All tourneys are 8 hours long)

If you are interested in applying, contact Jeremie Larson by email ([email protected]), he will be able to provide more details. The website has all the info…our objective is to have a very organized tournament experience and fun!

Are you looking for a league, or more of a circuit? There are several weeknight leagues around, most fish Wednesdays. Ours is a Thursday night league (MOW Bass League- Info posted in another thread). The more serious leagues/circuits typically fish weekends and there’s some fairly stiff competition involved, plus a lot of drive time.
Our league fishes for cash each week, with an overall winner payout at the end of the year. We also give out random stuff here-and-there so you can still get something even if you don’t take home cash that week.
As for sponsors, you just need to start somewhere and get your name out there. As you climb the ranks and win some tourneys, you then have the ammo to go for some sponsorships.
