February 5, 2004 at 7:01 pm #291626Depending on the weekend, I may have room in my boat Erick. Is this a two man team event?? I can remember seeing pics from last year, but dont’ recall the rules.
February 5, 2004 at 7:30 pm #291610I called Everets and was told the first saturday in March, March 6th this year that would mean. Waterfowler if you do have room count me in for sure I am sure i could learn a few pointers from ya as well. Last year if i recall i think i was on the river with a buddy the same day as this event and it was snowing like hell! I looked back at last years weigh in and the two man team had 5 or 6 cant rember fish weighing in at around 35 or 36 pounds. I believe last year it was a 25 dollar entry fee. Steve you got any info for us at this time?
February 5, 2004 at 7:55 pm #291461No snow last year on the FYB held 3/1/03. Pretty nice day actually, hardly any wind. The very next Saturday we got 5 inches of new snow and it was brutal cold out.

Looking forward to doing it again this year.

Kid, this is from memory….Never seen any written rules. Just a guy who runs it from the tailgate of a pickup truck.
The entry is $20 or 25 bucks per 2 man team. I think they paid out 1st, 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th. You will get a boat number when you sign up the day of the event. Keep that handy for weigh in.
6 fish limit, 15 inch minimum. Walleye and Sauger.
7am till 3pm.
Everyone stages in front of the docks at Everts and it’s a shotgun start at 7am. If you have a slow boat, stay out of the way!
Make sure to confirm the above info is correct when you sign up.

February 9, 2004 at 9:04 pm #292085As I recall, two years ago, Reef runner and Pro V spent the tournament at Perkins. Rob and I took Pro V’s boat and covered it with ice – fishing was great!

I did a search for the pics of those ice covered boats but could not find them, anyone have any they could post here, it just might scare off the competition
February 9, 2004 at 11:18 pm #292102Thats one of them, there was a side or rear view of one of the boats with alot of ice on it.
February 10, 2004 at 1:24 am #292113Here’s the other one showing the rods all froze together. I’ll give Bruce a call to get the details down. Bill Cadwell…do you have his number still…shoot me a pm. Thanks.
February 10, 2004 at 2:27 am #292131IF ever any companies wanted to see equipment put to the test in the harshest conditions, they should come and observe this event. IF your equipment survives a day of tourney fishing in those conditions, hang on to it because it just earned your blessing.
IF my memory serves me right, there was a nice gentle breeze out of the North that day? Say a light 25-35 mph and temps obviously below freezing!!
Angry fisherman……February 10, 2004 at 5:52 pm #292121You got a great point there Steve. I can’t wait for this darn weather to swing about 10 more degrees. I’ve had an itch to get the boat out so bad lately. I’ll be at this one unless that light wind shows up again.
February 29, 2004 at 9:09 pm #294626Just a reminder the tournament is March 6th. Coming up VERY soon!
Thanks, Bill
