does any one have any experience with this circut? i was looking into one of the illinois regions around the quad cities area and i seen theres some close in eastern ia but a couple of them arent showing schedules

for those with info do they generally draw alot of boats and is it fair to a non boater?

the reason i ask is this is one of the few circuts in my area that arent buddy circuts and is affordable to me as im under federal money going to school with no job

also it allows the non boater (at least by rule) to fish for the same prizes as the boater

it looks pretty good as i feel if i can just get a bass boat i can fish for a living and this is one of the only way i can get one at this time is to win one

    thanks

I fished ABA last year and will be fishing it again.
All anglers are considered equal (boater and non), same entry, same payout pool. The “draw” format allows equal time in front of the boat and equal “spot selection” meaning you spend half the day in each person’s water if you choose. It is a great group. Last year was the inagural year and turnouts were not large, but the way they are run i expect both the above listed district and district 46 to grow. here is the link to both districts. You can fish one or both and any others in the country for that matter. Most of the info you need is on the below links- pm or reply if you want more info, but check out the links.

    district 46- http://www.qcbassfishing.8k.com/index.html

the national or main site is http://www.americanbassanglers.com also for more info.

I found the district 46 schedule-

5/2/4- Miss river, Loud thunder ramp (pool 16)
    5/23/4- Lake George public ramp
6/13/4- MIss river, Muscatine city ramp (pool 17)
6/27/4- Miss river, Loud thunder (16)
7/11/4- Miss river, Musc ramp (17)

8/14-8/15- 2 day district championship- loud thunder ramp

You must fish 4 one days (in any district) to fish a 2 day. You could fish 4 one days here and a 2 day in missouri or any other state if you choose. If you go the the aba site you can look up districts- 46 locally, 73 is the one posted above, then there is one in chicago area (braidwood lake) and one from southern illinois.

Let me know if you have other questions. JJ

Yes, they allow locking- if you draw me im always happy to learn new water even if it means i sacrifice fish i may be “on”. The power of exploration often overwhelms my better judgement. Lake George is in Andalusia- in the Loud thunder forest preserve. At the tourney there last year i caught a limit of bass, won the tourney, and landed a 38″ musky to boot. Not a bad day to say the least.

    Hi Dusty,

It is great to see your interest. I am the director for the East Iowa District of ABA. I see Lawrence has already reposted what I sent a few months ago so I won’t re-hash it but I would like to invite you to give me a call I am sure I can answer all of your questions. If you want to save the long distance email me your number and when it is best to call and I’ll call you.

I noticed you are in school. We have a new program for collegiate anglers as well called CAST. You can find more info on the national site at http://www.americanbassanglers.com.

The invitaion extends to anyone else as well. the American Bass Anglers are new to the area but we are the largest tournament organization in the country for the weekend angler. We paid out just under $350,000 at the National last October and gave away 3 fully rigged Triton TR-21 with Mercury engines.

We have a same year national. Come out and fish with us and qualify for the national this year at Lake Wheeler in Alabama in October. It is very exciting and you will not believe the friends you’ll make. Trust me qualification is easier than you think.

Give me a call if you want to hear more.

    Regards,

Dusty, the flexibility of the ABA is another benefit- you can fish 2 of kens tourneys “up north”, 2 down here then fish both 2 days if you so desired. If you are on vacation in Missouri, or Alabama, etc you can fish a district down there. That makes gaining pts to qualify for nationals that much better. Give Ken a call or email/pm/call me if you desire more info- most of it is on the websites for the 2 districts and the national “main” site listed above.

Hey Ken, Welcome. Please feel free to post any info on the tournaments and of course the tournament results too. This gives info to the people who like to fish tournaments and gives you and your circuit free advertising so to speak. Thanks, Bill

    Thanks Bill,

I was being careful as too how much stuff I posted. I am not quite sure when you cross the line as to how much advertising is allowed in some forums.

I will surely post some results next spring, however.

    Come on March Thaw!

I would like to see all the circuit directors post ALOT as thats what people want-info on the tournaments both before, during, and after the tournaments. So all you guys who are directors ”AND” all you regular guys who fish please feel free to post away ”ALL” you want. The more info and talking and sharing the better. Sound good? Post away! Thanks, Bill
