Soft jerk baits and swim baits

I get the swim baits , but the Fluke type baits just never, never produce for me??? I can be right beside a somebody throwing these baits , same color, same rigging ,(it happened again on Kisssimme and Toho last spring), and watch the other guy get swatted and hooked up and I never get even as much as a nip. I think I’m imparting the same action, cause I watch the other anglers bait come back and try to coppy the actions, SO if anyone wants to explain here how they use them and make them work I would sure appreciate it. THANKS Probably not the correct place to post it for the largest base of knowledge. It is actually a follow up to my polls. After fishing many hundreds of tourneys and being tourney director of three series I guess I just kind of gravitate to this forum. HAPPY HOOK-UPS
