Just tied my best finish in a significant tournament, with a 3rd place on Le Homme Dieu fishing as an AM with Brian Krause.
The fishing on that chain of lakes was quite a bit tougher than usual, with some people struggling to finish with a limit of 6 fish in 8 hours. Normal years getting 6 fish only takes about an hour, so this was a quite a bit slower than normal. Tons of pre-fishing paid off though, as we were able to narrow things down to a few different options, and managed to pull a big fish out of some shallow water along with enough decent ones to get a nice weight. We ended up with 13.57 lbs, which I thought would likely be a check, but never thought we would be leading the tournement until about 2/3 of the way through it, before someone else finally brought in a bag bigger than ours at 14.62 lbs. Of course, the winner blew everyone out, with a massive bag for this chain of lakes. Leroy Ranstrom came in with 6 fish weighing 21.00 lbs! We could have caught 2 a pair of 5 lb fish, and STILL would have failed to catch him.
Next stop, Minnetonka! And as it turns out, my partner for that one will be Leroy. Sure hope we can put a bag together like the one he got on Le Homme Dieu!
