Per the rules and guidelines on this forum, here is a summary of the recent tournament on Green Lake (Chisago):
Threatening skies welcomed 34 anglers to the first Forest Lake Division tournament. Although heavy rain seemed inevitable, a mere sprinkle was all the developed. With temperatures in the low 60’s and winds out of the SE at 5 mph anglers headed to their starting spots. It quickly became evident that the fish were not aggressively pursuing baits but instead were looking for a slower, finesse presentation. After five and half hours all the contestants showed up to the weigh-in with fish. Finishing third with five fish weighing 13.23 lbs. was team Shinler/Piersdorf, second place went to Krocak/Larson with a 14.58 lbs. five fish bag, and finishing on top with a five fish limit weighing 14.78 lbs. was team Liebig/Habendank. Big bass for the tournament went to team Helms/Helms with a hefty 4.42 lb. bass that narrowly beat out team Foster/Valentine by a mere .07 lb. The common theme among the top finishers was that most of their fish came in shallow water (>10ft) using soft plastics such as senkos and tubes. I would like to thank our sponsor Gander Mountain Forest Lake. I would also like to thank Struttin’ Turkey Fans for their support of USA Bassin. If you’re looking for a beautiful mount for your turkey contact Chris at 651-983-9771. Thanks to all of the anglers that came out and fished on Sunday and I look forward to seeing you all on Forest Lake on June 22nd.
