FLW OUTDOORS’ TV TO PREVIEW WAL-MART FLW TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
MINNEAPOLIS (Sept. 9, 2003) — This week on “FLW Outdoors” television, co-host and angling veteran Hank Parker is in Virginia for the $1.5 million Wal-Mart FLW Tour Championship presented by Castrol taking place on the James River in Richmond. Parker talks with four pro anglers, all hoping to take home the $500,000 winner’s check, prior to them competing in the most lucrative bass-fishing tournament in the world.
Parker fishes with Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year and Evinrude pro Dan Morehead of Paducah, Ky., who plans to fish a pattern that might surprise other contenders. Next up is Team Kellogg’s pro Clark Wendlandt of Cedar Park, Texas, who hopes to add a championship title to his two Angler of the Year awards. Parker also catches up with Team Chevy pro Kevin VanDam of Kalamazoo, Mich., who looks to covert a very short practice period into his first FLW Tour Championship victory.
Parker is also joined by local favorite and Team Yamaha pro John Crews of Jetersville, Va., the only native in the 48-angler pro field. Crews gives an in-depth report on the tactics competitors will employ on the tidal water of the James River and predicts how the winning angler will find fish in the shallow water.
The FLW Tour Championship is comprised of the top 48 pros from the 2003 Wal-Mart FLW Tour season. The anglers are paired together in two rounds of head-to-head competition for the first three days of the event. On the fourth and final day, the surviving 12 anglers will fish for the $500,000 first prize.
The Outdoor Life Network broadcasts “FLW Outdoors” every Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. and again Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. Eastern time. Check local listings for show times and channels in your area.
