TRANA AND DARLING WIN WWA NORTH DAKOTA TEAM CHALLENGE EVENT

DEVILS LAKE, ND- Jeff Trana and Rick Darling were victorious in the final
qualifying event of the year in the World Walleye Association North Dakota
Team Challenge circuit held on Devils Lake, August 23rd &24th.

Due to 30mph winds gusting to 40mph, the first day of the two-day event was
cancelled. But on day two the winds died down and the event continued.

Jeff Trana and Rick Darling fished the west side of the Flats trolling Reef
Runners in 12-18ft of water to catch their winning weight of 26.57 pounds.

Larry Zimmerman and Dennis Andruski placed second with a weight of 25.19
pounds. Zimmerman and Andruski were also trolling crankbaits at several
locations in the lake to catch their weight. They also had the big fish of
    the tournament, a 7.42-pound walleye.

Scott Larsen and Hans Halverson placed third with a weight of 19.98 pounds.
They were trolling Jr. Thundersticks and Shad Raps in the East gap by
    Grahams Island.

The second place big fish honors of the tournament went to Jim Welch and Jim
Welch Jr. with a 7.04-pound walleye.

The Welch¹s traveled all the way from Texas to compete in the event.

Special thanks goes out to Spirit Lake Casino and Marina for hosting the
event and for all the help in making it a success.

The top thirty teams from the North Dakota division based on points earned
in each of the five qualifying events held in 2003 will be eligible to fish
the World Walleye Association National Championship held on Lake Winnebago
