Our own Chappy put two awesome days together to finish 2nd overall in points on the co-angler side, and earn a trip to the Big Dance in Red Wing, as well as the RCL League Championship in Iowa at Lake Okoboji in September. Congrats Chappy! He moved from 23rd (I think…) to 2nd. Unfortunately, Brian Hilgardner and I only scraped up one fish, and lost a heartbraker at the boat! Brian was in first place as a Co-angler. He too will join us at Okoboji, as well as Mike Finke of FTL fame. Thanks to all for all the support over the year! My Pool 3 fishing (And reporting) had suffered because of it. I’ll tell you at the end of the year if it was worth it!

Thanks again! Three cheers for Chappy!

One more person that did real well was Nick Peterson. He was in a good position to make the championship as a co-angler prior to Leech. They didnt have enough boaters, so he switched to the boater side. With only a few hours of prefishing, he managed 3 fish and placed in the top 30. He placed a head of a lot of great sticks during a tough bite.

Those 3 fish probably would have put him into the championship if he could have used the points on the co-angler side.

Great tourney and circuit. If any of you are thinking about trying out tournaments-give the RCL League a shot!

Some maybe ,but to tell you the truth ….It was a total blast! Now i’m going to do what alot of guy’s won’t get a chance to do…. Fish the BIG DANCE!!!!! See you guy’s around. All these guy’s are class act’s and very enjoyable to be around!!!! Dave…. Oh Dave, What can I say but….The Chicks loved that shirt. Thanks for letting me stay there too. Good luck to everyone going to Iowa too!!!

One more thing, I’ve seen some bad luck in fishing but Sunday my partner and I did’nt have any luck at all! First fish hgooked get’s half way to the boat and it’s going to be a keeper…and Ka Boom…. a 45-50″ Muskie took our fish!!! It was only a 1-1.5 # but it probably cost me 5th place. It was kinda fun seeing that huge fish!!! Second fish to the boat was a 15# + Northern. We caught everything but a walleye! Finally the 3rd fish to the boat was a 5#+ Walleye. My partner also had another Big fish on and got it half way up out of 40 feet of water and it let go. We were live bait rigging with 6-9″ Chubs!! Never done that before. Could’ve came close to winning if he don’t let go and the Muskie leaves our fish alone!!!!

Thanks Tuck! Yeah, if we could of boated just a couple of more fish we might have both made it to the top 5 overall. Oh well! This tournament series has been an awesome experience, and it really allows the weekend angler to get into some competitive fishing without having to invest a lot of time or break the bank. Congrats Chappy on Leech Lake, and it was great to put a face to a name finally. Hopefully we can all get on a solid bite down in Iowa and the FTR boys can clean em’ out. Good luck to all.
