    LAKE WINNEBAGO TO HOST WAL-MART RCL WALLEYE LEAGUE SUPER TOURNAMENT

    OSHKOSH, Wis. (July 1, 2003) – The Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League Wisconsin Division will wrap up its regular season July 12-13 for a $25,985 two-day Super Tournament on Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh. As many as 150 boaters and co-anglers are expected to compete in the event.
    Competitors will take off both mornings from Pioneer Resort in Oshkosh at 7 a.m., and Saturday’s weigh-in will also be held at Pioneer Resort beginning at 3 p.m. Following Saturday’s competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 boaters and co-anglers, and Sunday’s weigh-in will be held at the Wal-Mart store in Oshkosh beginning at 4 p.m.
    Boater Division anglers will compete for a top award of as much as $3,500 cash plus a $750 cash bonus if they are the registered owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat that is used during the event. The winning boater is also eligible for an additional $1,000 bonus from Garmin if he uses a fixed-mount Garmin Fishfinder or combination GPS/sounder for a top pro award worth $5,250. The winning co-angler will receive as much as $1,500 cash plus a $375 bonus if they are the registered owner of a Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat for a top co-angler award of $1,875.
    In Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League competition, boaters and co-anglers are randomly paired and fish together for a combined boat weight, with boaters competing against other boaters and co-anglers competing against other co-anglers. Seventy-five boaters and 75 co-anglers comprise a full field. Every angler who receives weight credit in a tournament earns points, with 200 points awarded to the winner, 199 points for second, and so on, except for Super Tournaments, which award 300 points to the winner, 298 to second, and so on.
    Boaters and co-anglers who finish in the top 25 in final points standings in each RCL Walleye League division will advance to the $88,000 RCL League Finals Sept. 6-7 on Lake Okoboji in Spirit Lake, Iowa. The winning boater at the finals will receive an Evinrude-or Yamaha-powered Ranger, Crestliner or Lund boat.
    The success of the $3.07 million Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour, featuring the world’s best walleye anglers and most lucrative payouts, resulted in high demand for weekend walleye tournaments designed for working anglers. Thus began the Wal-Mart RCL Walleye League, which comprises four divisions – Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Wisconsin – with three regular-season events each. Two of the events are one-day tournaments featuring a $20,530 payout followed by a two-day Super Tournament featuring a $25,985 payout.
