Congrats to Jamie!! Wow, a number 3 finish and only an ounce shy of placing second. Amazing 140 plus pounds of walleyes!!! The $25,000 aint a bad payday to boot. This finish puts Jamie in the lead for RCL angler of the year. A good finish at the last RCL stop at Devils Lake may earn him the title this year. (And a check for $10,000 and another new boat!)
I had the opportunity to talk with Jamie after the weigh ins during the tourney. (New cell phone is great for keeping up on the really important stuff!! lol) And I also spent several hours last night at my house listening to more stories.
Pretty amazing bite. Nearly every fish he brought to the scales were over 9 pounds. Mix in a couple fish in the 12 pound class, and that is a stuffed livewell! Jamie was making long runs up into Canadian waters to fish these schools. As was written, the final day wind blew the lake into 8 footers that Jamie described as being more like 12 footers. The huge wave kept him from making the run the final day. Good thing he had a backup spot close to the launch site……
Jamie had to not only battle the surf on day 4, but also had the bad luck of blowing his main motor. That took away 4 hours of fishing time as that’s how long it took to get back to the scales on only a 9.9 hp kicker!
I know Jamie wanted to get out here and post his comments and catch up on his mail, but…. First thing this morning he was off to Iowa for a week of work at his “Real Job” on a construction site. So, ten days on the road to fish a tourney followed up by a week in another hotel. Then, when he gets back it’s off to Devils! Wow, what a schedule.
Congrats again.
